Guinness
Ireland’s Highest Garden

Agency : Ogilvy / Wilson Hartnell

Guinness has contributed to so many of Dublin’s green spaces, from The Phoenix Park to Iveagh Gardens but some are more known than others. Guinness celebrated this by creating The Highest Garden in Ireland at the top of their Gravity Bar for their “Height of Summer” experience. My client approached me with a brief to illustrate a hero piece, the map of Guinness’ Green Spaces as well as event design and an identity to brand the experience and signage throughout the Guinness Storehouse and their Hang Tough x Fuchsia Macaree exhibition.

This suite of illustrations was created featuring summery plants, foliage, flowers and playful summer motifs. The iconic Guinness toucan and other iconography from Guinness’ rich heritage were also integrated into the illustrations. It was important that the identity felt distinctly recognisable as Guinness, using their typefaces and colour palettes, while also introducing green foliage and summer elements that capture the spirit of the experience.

The illustrated locations from the map were turned into one-colour line art and placed on the 360° windows of the Gravity Bar overlooking their direction. QR codes underneath lead to a digital version of the map that visitors can view and use later when exploring the city.
