Music, Memory & the Night

Music, Memory and the Night was an audio-visual collaboration between eight musicians and visual artists. Four musicians who are part of Black-Irish, Afro-Irish and/or African diasporic communities in Ireland made audio recordings of memories in Galway and Cork at night. Then the four visual artists of African descent create a visual piece in response trying to capture that memory. I was partnered with Galway-based DJ Safarii and this piece was a visual representation of her first big night DJing to a crowd in Galway. She spoke of the eclectic crowd, wild dancing and good vibes so I wanted to capture that positive energy in the piece with a surreal take on the night and the sweet snacks that were available at the venue.
