Black Girl Magic Poster Series for G’wan Ireland Exhibition

This is a series for Hen's Teeth's G'wan Ireland exhibition featuring upcoming designers, photographers and artists in Ireland. Black Girl Magic celebrates Black femininity, it frames Black women as a goddesses of nature drawing power from the elements. It’s an image we don’t often see, certainly not historically in paintings or the rewriting of history and religion.

We often get siphoned into rigid archetypes and are rarely framed as soft and vulnerable, denying the strength that can be in vulnerability and denying Black women the opportunity to be human in a lot of ways. We’re expected to be strong always, and we are, but I wanted to give Black women something that says you’re beautiful, you’re powerful but also you’re soft and vulnerable and that’s allowed too.
